Materials: Ethically sourced natural agave fiber, know as “Fique” fiber.
Ethically handmade and sourced in Colombia.
Water Usage: The rugs are made from Colombian agave fiber called “Fique”. Fique is known to have roots that help in soil protection and underground water storage. The water used to wash fique fibers as part of the production processes is then re-used to irrigate the crops in the land where they are grown. No water is contaminated in the process.
Circularity Centered: Once the agave is cut and depulped, the organic material that is residue from the depulping is used as fertilizer for other close-by productions (fruits, beans, potatoes).
Cruelty Free: No products involve animals or animal subproducts in any part of the process.
Vegan: No products involve animals or animal subproducts in any part of the process.
Friendly Materials: When extracted the Fique is extracted only from the outer leaves, so that the plant can continue to grow. The agave fiber used, the copper and tin threads are biodegradable. The powdered dyes used to color the products are environmentally friendly and sourced in Switzerland.
Locally Crafted: The Fique production in Colombia sustains an estimated of 60,000 families that depend economically on its cultivation and transformation. 10,000 more of these families are artisans, part of which work with Tapistelar to create these beautiful rugs.
Considerately Produced: Most of the production chain is manual, from cutting, depulping, dying, spunning, weaving, and stitching. Minimal technology is used and the only CO2 emissions produced come from shipping. Packaging: As our products travel overseas, they do require plastic wrappings for protection. The rugs are also protected in fique agave fiber bags. The protected rugs are placed in their boxes (made from the same material of the rugs, these are used to export coffee around the world).

As Tapistelar products are made to order specifically for the customer that purchases them, all orders are final and Tapistelar cannot accept returns.
The brand strives endlessly to aim for the top quality of their products, small differences or irregularities in color, weft or size may occur due to natural and production differences; this is inherent to the use of natural fibers and has to be accepted when within normal commercial tolerances. Tapistelar is not responsible for such differences between the sample provided and the products delivered. Certain fabrics are subject to changes in color over time and with exposure to light. TapisTelar will not accept any complaint if shading is concerned.
These rugs are made by hand, being a craft product, and may therefore be subject to minor inevitable variations, in terms of size and color, compared with the original model.
Any imperfections are due to the handmade nature of the production and to the vintage fabrication techniques and therefore add value and guarantee the uniqueness of the piece.
The maximum variation in size that can suffer a rug is 5% of its total. The decrease or increase may affect both the width and length of the rug.
They recommend that you follow the detailed maintenance and cleaning instructions on the label on the back and in the leaflet enclosed with the rug.
Prolonged exposure of the rugs to sunlight may result in fading. Any shading or water-effect which may appear on the rugs is a feature of the natural fique fiber. They may appear to have marks or a different colour in one particular area. This effect is due to the fiber complexity. It is not a manufacturing defect. This characteristic does not alter the quality of the product or effect its durability. The shading effect disappears with use and care of the rug. TapisTelar will accept no complaints involving this effect.
Carpet colours. When applied to materials such as fique fibers and exposed to environmental light conditions, the colour of the carpets may differ slightly from the colours in the original samples. Complete colour fidelity cannot be guaranteed.
