Lagos-based shoe and accessory brand, Shekudo, draws on heritage, life experiences and a wearable art aesthetic in its designs, aiming to shed light on local artisans, Nigerian craftsmanship and age-old techniques. It sources the majority of its raw materials locally, such as its shoe heels, recycled insoles, local leather, traditional Aso Oke/Akwete cloth and local cotton, plus wood, brass and silver for earrings. Shekudo aims to become the leading producer of quality women’s footwear and accessories across Africa and establish a global Shekudo sisterhood, advocating for slow fashion and women’s empowerment.
